The Apartheid Museum showcases South Africa in the turbulent years of the apartheid era. During this period, millions of people were subjected to a life of servitude, discrimination and oppression until the country was liberated in 1994 and became a democratic society

Apartheid Museum & Lesedi Cultural Village Tour Overview:

The museum illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid through 22 individual exhibition areas, including dramatic film footage. A tour of the museum takes you on an emotional journey; from the heartbreaking struggle for freedom and equality to the ultimate climax of the election of Nelson Mandela, the first Black president of South Africa.

Lesedi Cultural Village is located in the heart of The Cradle of Humankind which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Set in the lush African bushveld on the outskirts of Johannesburg, Lesedi Cultural Village offers a unique perspective of the beliefs, folklore and traditional way of life of 5 different cultural groups in South Africa.

Enjoy a traditional song and dance show, an authentic African meal at Nyama Choma restaurant and soak up the peace and tranquility of the historic Cradle of Humankind. It’s a cultural feast in more ways than one.

Currently only available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. (Due to Apartheid Museum opening days)
